Wildwood, MO - Former Missouri State Representative Jack Jackson (R-Wildwood) announced today he will not seek the Republican nomination to run for Governor in 2008.

“I’ve decided it would be best for Missouri not to challenge Governor Blunt”, said Colonel Jackson (USMC- Ret.). “The governor asked me for my endorsement and I agreed.”

In his endorsement Jackson called Governor Matt Blunt, “a hard worker who is making difficult decisions and doing what he feels is best for the people of Missouri.”

Jackson says he had considered running for governor after he was encouraged by voters from around the state to seek the office; “I’m honored that so many of my supporters have that kind of faith in me but this is the time to close ranks and Governor Blunt deserves another term.”

Jackson says he will keep his options open for the 2012 elections and plans to seek statewide office at that time; “until then I’ll keep working to support my fellow veterans and do whatever I can to make Missouri a better place to live.”

Colonel Jack Jackson was a highly decorated Vietnam War combat pilot who went on to serve as the Chief Test Pilot for the Boeing Company where he helped develop the world’s most sophisticated defense systems. He was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2000.

Shamed Dogan, Republican candidate for State Representative in Missouri’s 88th District, announced Monday that his 3rd quarter financial report will show that his supporters contributed $12,494* to promote a fresh conservative face for the Missouri Republican Party. The campaign ended its first quarter of fundraising with more than $10,000 cash on hand.

“I appreciate the help I’ve received from my family, friends, and concerned citizens who share my vision for a smaller, better Missouri government,” Dogan said. “I am also very thankful to Jim Talent for being a supporter and a role model.”

The campaign reported contributions from several elected officials: State Representatives Jane Cunningham (R-Chesterfield), Tim Jones (R-Eureka) and Rick Stream (R-Kirkwood); four of Ballwin’s eight Aldermen—Tim Pogue, Jim Robinson, Jane Suozzi and Jimmy Terbrock; St. Louis County Councilwoman Colleen Wasinger; St. Louis City Alderwoman Kacie Starr Triplett; and Ferguson Alderman James Knowles.

Dogan also received contributions from prominent Republicans including former State Rep. Brent Evans; Ray Wagner of Enterprise Rent-A-Car; Missouri Federation of Young Republicans Chair Monica Durrwachter; St. Louis County Republican Committeeman Kurt Witzel; and St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist Dwight Billingsly.

Dogan graduated from Yale University in 2000 and served as a legislative assistant for Senator Jim Talent for three years. Dogan was recently named “Man of the Year” by the St. Louis Area Young Republicans as well as one of the St. Louis Business Journal’s 30 Under 30. He currently works for the Regional Business Council and is a member of the St. Louis Area Young Republicans, the West County Jaycees, and the Urban League Young Professionals. He lives in Ballwin with his wife, Sara.

* From 2002-2006, successful candidates in open seat races in suburban St. Louis and Kansas City districts raised an average of approximately $38,000 for the entire campaign. Dogan is on pace to raise over $55,000 before the August 2008 primary and nearly $70,000 for the entire campaign.
